If you are planning to drain and re-fill your spa, we recommend using 1/4 bottle of WHIRPOOL RINSE. Allow spa to circulate for 30 minutes. Drain spa wipe down interior with paper towel. You may use Windex to clean acrylic surfaces. 

 

It is not recommended to fill your spa with water from your hot water tank or from a water softener. Hot water tanks contain sediments and minerals. We recommend that you use fresh cold tap water. These recommendations are based on average municipal tap water however they will vary depending on which city you live in.

 

START-UP CHEMICALS

 

When adding chemicals you should have your pump/pumps running to circulate the water. You should wait 10-15 minutes between adding different chemicals.

 

  1. To condition your spa and internal plumbing, add 60 ml (6 bottle caps) of PREVENT II per 1000 liters of water
  2. Tap water PH is usually at 7.2 ppm. This is ideal and there is no need to adjust the PH.
  3. Tap water Alkalinity is usually at 85 ppm. The ideal range for a spa is 120 ppm. You will need to add 1 cap (25 grams) of ALKALINITY BOOSTER per 1000 liters. of water.  If your spa is 1500 liters of water add 1.5 caps.
  4. Tap water hardness is usually 80-85 ppm. This will vary depending on which city you live in. The ideal range for your spa is 200-300. You will need to add about 175 grams (7x 25 gram caps) of CAL-BOOST per 1000 liters of water.
  5. Sanitizer (Bromine / Chlorine / Mineral Purifier) should be added. See below.

 

SANITIZER & OXIDIZER (SHOCK)

 

SANITIZER: If you have a swimming pool, we recommend using the same sanitizer in both.

 
If you are using a floating dispenser, put 2 to 3 pucks into dispenser and set opening to 1/3. This is a good start. You will need to adjust the amount depending on usage and water conditions.   
 
OXIDIZER (SHOCK):  We recommend that you shock your spa twice a week every Wednesday and Sunday night. You should add 100 grams (4 x 25 gram caps) of SPA SHOCK per 1000 liters of water. 

 

 

With weekly maintenance as you add more tap water, you may need to add 1 cap of CAL-BOOST and to 1 cap of ALKALINITY BOOSTER.

 

You should test your water weekly with your test strips, and bring a water sample into us every few weeks.
